Krzysztof Moskalewicz | Chopin and Sun: Of Darkness and Light

Celebrating the release of his newest album, Krzysztof Moskalewicz presents an evening of piano music that conjures the elemental forces of darkness and light that epitomises the much beloved music of Frédéric Chopin. Krzysztof champions new music and complements the programme with works by contemporary composer Sun Keting.

Polish pianist Krzysztof Moskalewicz follows a path of versatility in his musical repertoire and values the possibilities for deep communication through the medium of music.

Equally passionate about solo and collaborative performance, Krzysztof has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at many prestigious venues, including the Barbican Hall, Wigmore Hall, Milton Court Concert Hall, Birmingham Town Hall, Palacio de Festivales de Santander and the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw. He has also performed at other major venues across Europe, in Japan and the United States. Krzysztof has appeared as a soloist with the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra, Radom Chamber Orchestra and Frederic Chopin State School Symphony Orchestra. Krzysztof has participated in many international music festivals and piano seminars worldwide. He attended the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado. He worked with Maestro Thomas Adès at the International Musicians Seminar in Prussia Cove and Christian Blackshaw at the Hellensmusic Festival. He performed at the International Chamber Music Festival Harmos in Casa di Musica in Porto, the 17th Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander, Aegean Arts International Festival in Crete and Leipzig Bach Festival. In 2020 following the London debut recital for The Chopin Society UK, he recorded an extraordinary recital on Chopin's own Pleyel piano, on which Chopin composed some of his last works. Last year he released his debut album Chopin Ballades & Sun Postcards.

Krzysztof began his piano studies at the age of seven with Renata Lasocka and went on to win prizes in major national piano competitions. In 2011, he graduated with the highest distinction from the Frederic Chopin State School of Music in Warsaw (having studied with Joanna Kurpiowska). In 2017, he received a Master's Degree in Piano Performance with first- class honours from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (studying with Ronan O'Hora), and was offered a Guildhall Artist Fellowship. He also holds a Professional Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Ian Fountain.

Krzysztof has been a prizewinner at several major international piano competitions, including the International Brant Piano Competition in Birmingham, the Christopher Duke International Piano Recital Competition in London, and the Piano Competition of Ludwik Stefanski Plock in Poland.
